International Chess Coaching Academy
As we mark the illustrious 24th Anniversary of QUEENSTAR International Coaching Academy on August 17th, 2024, we celebrate a legacy of excellence and dedication. From our humble origins as one of Sri Lanka’s pioneering chess coaching academies, we have nurtured and honed numerous players who have brought pride to our nation, achieving distinction both nationally and internationally.
When it is considered to very recent achievements in year 2022 & 2023, following can be highlighted as remarkable track records of the academy.
- Highest number of participations (04 players) from a single academy for World School Chess Championship in Greece.
- Highest number of participation (25 players) from a single academy for World School selection, Super 30 Event.
- Highest number of participation (15 players) from a single academy for Asian Schools Chess Championship and won the Silver Medal in Under 07 Girls Event.
- Championship of Under 09 Boys and Girls in Western Province Schools Teams Chess tournament
- Highest number of participation (08 players) from a single academy for Commonwealth Chess Championship.

From National to International
Academy has excelled in the game of chess, by organizing National Level chess tournaments, and having the highest number of player participation in International & Local competitions over the last 5 years. With these remarkable achievements our Chess Coaching Academy has achieved a unique name throughout the Sri Lanka.
The wealth of experience garnered from organizing National Level tournaments over the years has propelled us to take a monumental leap forward. With great excitement, QUEENSTAR International Chess Coaching Academy proudly announces our next milestone event: the Inaugural International Chess Tournament, scheduled to take place from April 27th to May 1st, 2024, at the esteemed Laknara Grand Hotel in Kadawatha.
We hope that over 1,000 chess players from all over the island will participate in this tournament. Moreover, leading GRAND MASTERS from foreign countries including India are also expecting to participate. There are over two million cash prizes for the winners and other giveaways already arranged by the organizers.

Chess Federation of Sri lanka - CFSL
The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka is the central governing body for the game of chess in the country. Founded in 1972, the federation is affiliated to Fédération Internationale des Échecs, (FIDE), the world body for chess in 1978. The CFSL was registered at the Ministry of Sports also in 1978.
