Buy a tourist SIM (Dialog or Mobitel) at the airport. Around LKR 1,300 gets you generous data for the week.

The currency is the Sri Lankan rupee (LKR). Cards are accepted in hotels; carry cash for buses, kade shops and tuk-tuks.

Rice and curry, kottu and hoppers are local staples. Vegetarian and halal options are widely available near the venue.

Gampaha is calm and welcoming. Use metered ride-hailing at night and keep your accreditation on you at the venue.

Expect warm, humid days around 30°C with occasional afternoon showers in August. Pack light, breathable clothing.

230V, 50Hz. Sockets are mostly Type G and Type D — bring a universal adapter.
